For many, camping conjures up childhood memories of nights in a tent, family barbecues and swimming in the river. But in the modern era, camping has evolved into a luxury outdoor experience. Yelloh Village's Sérignan Plage, regularly featured on TV as France's best campsite, is a perfect example. Is this title justified? Here's our detailed account from the heart of this Mediterranean paradise.

1. Accommodation: A new definition of camping

Sérignan Plage challenges our preconceived ideas about camping. As soon as we arrived, we discovered a variety of accommodation that rivals some hotels in terms of comfort and luxury. Mobile homes, with their spacious terraces and modern facilities, offer all the comforts of home. Tents, on the other hand, are spacious and well-appointed, offering a true "glamping" experience. We opted for the beachfront bungalows. Perfectly equipped, with a bottle of rosé as a welcome gift, the 3 bedrooms are comfortable. Shower, dishwasher, two deckchairs, indoor and outdoor tables, air conditioning... there's no doubt about it, camping is becoming glamorous.

Our verdict: Camping has come a long way since the days of rudimentary tents and sleeping bags. Sérignan Plage has succeeded in combining the best of both worlds: the beauty of nature and the comfort of modernity. The seafront bungalows are undoubtedly a must. Waking up to be the first to enjoy an empty beach in a matter of seconds is an incredible pleasure.

2. The swimming area: an aquatic oasis

One of the highlights of Sérignan Plage is without doubt its swimming area. The lagoon pool is an architectural marvel, with its crystal-clear waters and lush palm trees. The integrated restaurants and bars offer all the services you could wish for if you want to enjoy waffles, hot dogs or milkshakes between two swims. The new waterslides just before Covid add a touch of thrills for young and old alike, while the paddling pool and huge children's play area are a haven of peace for the little ones. The proximity of the Mediterranean is the icing on the cake, offering a salty alternative to the pool.

Our verdict: The bathing area is much more than just a swimming pool. It's a true aquatic complex, designed to offer an unrivalled swimming experience. One of the best in France, for this category of accommodation.

3. The balneo spa : An invitation to relaxation

This is probably the space that makes all the difference. After a busy day, the balneo spa is the ideal place to unwind. We were impressed by the variety of whirlpool baths that offer a nice way to relax your muscles. Above all, it's the Roman decor that fascinates, everything being done to make you forget that you're camping somewhere between Italy and Greece. You have a card for 2 per accommodation, and children are not allowed. It's also the ideal place to read a book, as Yelloh Village has not been stingy with the number of deckchairs: you'll always find somewhere to lie down.

Our verdict: The spa is a sanctuary of well-being. Every detail, from the soothing decor to the quality of the treatments, is designed to offer the ultimate relaxation experience. A big plus for the service, which doesn't hesitate to help you, even if you've lost something deep in the SPA!

4. Activities: an adventure for all ages

Sérignan Plage is a veritable paradise for activity lovers. The children's clubs are exceptional, offering a range of activities from arts and crafts to sports and games. For adults, aquagym, yoga and dance classes offer an excellent opportunity to keep active. Evenings are enlivened by concerts, shows and themed evenings. Like the SPA, this is one of the club's big plus points: the huge terrace bar serves you in the evening, whether it's for a magic show, a Disney show, or a dance show.

Our verdict: It's impossible to get bored at Sérignan Plage. The program of activities is so vast and varied that there's something for every taste and age. The price is high, but is it really still a campsite at this stage?

5. Services: convenience at your fingertips

Sérignan Plage also excels in the services it offers. The on-site restaurants serve delicious cuisine, with a variety of options to satisfy every palate. The mini-market is well-stocked, offering everything you might need during your stay. Other services, such as a hair salon, laundry and bike rental, add a touch of convenience.

Our verdict: Every service is designed to make guests' stay as comfortable and convenient as possible. It's this attention to detail that really sets Sérignan Plage apart. Le Loup Pas d'Oc offers seasonal Mediterranean cuisine, using fresh produce. The hidden terrace restaurant offers intimate islands, and seafood arrives daily at the SPA restaurant. Suffice to say, it's an uninterrupted feast.
A nice touch is the new reception area in 2023, so neat it looks like an Apple Store. The impeccable service even offers very quiet telecommuting spaces, from where your servants are currently writing.

6. Nearby: Discover the Hérault region

The Hérault region is rich in tourist attractions. From Fontcaude Abbey to the historic city of Béziers and the sublime city of Montpellier, there's so much to see and do. The local vineyards offer an excellent opportunity to taste regional wines, while the local markets are perfect for buying fresh produce.

Our verdict: The Hérault is a magnificent region, rich in history, culture and natural beauty. Le Sérignan Plage is perfectly situated for exploring all these wonders, even if the excellent facilities of the resort will tempt you to stay put.

Conclusion

This test took place in 2 bungalows, with feedback from all participants, so please let us know if your experience differs from ours.
Our test at Sérignan Plage was a confusing experience. Indeed, it's not just a campsite, but rather a complete vacation destination, perfectly managed by its owners. The price is high, but unlike other Sortir2Paris experiences, the value for money is perfectly justified here, as the teams, staff and entertainment are so outstanding in France. In short, if you can afford it, whether you're looking for relaxation, adventure or cultural discovery, Sérignan Plage has it all.
